Today, Instagram launched a new look.
Instagram still remains one of the most engaging social media platforms among its peers. There are just about 70 million photos and videos being posted on the app daily. In addition, there are 2.5 billion daily post likes as well. Now, the app has an entire new look.
What does this mean for the direction of Instagram?
If you have not heard by now, you should be aware that Instagram is in gears to changing its algorithm. That means you will no longer see post based on the time of day in chronological order, but rather by most relevance to your interest.
For now, you’ll see an increase of brands asking their followers to turn on post notifications to stay safe in the algorithm change. This feature allows your audience to stay up to date with post and never miss a beat.
You might have also seen that the explore page in the app has integrated video. Video has become a major component to social media. On Snapchat alone, 8 billion videos are viewed on a daily basis. Facebook sees about the same, if not more, video views on its platform daily. Instagram is catching suit to the video moment and wants to showcase content you may enjoy.
This feature serves in similar fashion to the new algorithm, but the explore page is meant to help you find content and people who you do not follow based on similar interest.
So where is Instagram going? It is not entirely clear just yet — but to distract you from their many changes, they introduce an entire redesign to its app. What are you thoughts?
